This guide will potentially be a very long "work in progress", I'll get it finish, one day...
Please note that things are likely to be "moving around" a fair bit - kinda simply posting what I see people find most annoying, or having the most trouble finding at the moment.

Please provide any/all feedback/suggestions/complaints in the discussion thread - thank you

    Table of Contents

Please wait for the page to finish loading before using the links, since unloaded screenshots can end up "pushing things down". Sorry for the layout, it's the best I can manage with the forum's limitation.
Press on the [>>] to go to the post in the same window, or press the text link itself to open it in a new tab.

(The ordering here is also likely the be the "final" order of the posts; it's easier to re-order links than the posts themselves, while I'm building up the guide )

      Basic Game Overview

As written in the game's description, Eternium is an Action Role Playing Game (ARPG) - so, you're going to playing one of the currently available 3 Classes: Warrior, Bounty Hunter and Mage. The game is available on Android, iOS and Windows 8.1/10, and you can play with the same profile/account on all 3 devices, if you wish.

Eternium is primarily a single-player game, with Story Maps/Levels and an "endless" Trials system (see Basic Trial FAQ), where you are ranked against other players based on your highest completed Trial level and the time it took you to complete it.Offline play is possible, once you have completed the data download AFTER installing the game (see <below ... later> for more details) - Trials completed offline will not be counted for your ranking though, you also need to be online in order to start/complete Ability Upgrade/Item Crafting.

The game itself does a decent job at slowly introducing you to its various aspects/features via in-game "quests", but do remember that it is a RPG, so do some exploration yourself as well - especially in the Hometown. Below is a basic list of DO's and DON'Ts that hopefully help you avoid some common early pitfalls that other players have encountered, more specific details can be found in the posts below.

      DO
      • Keep an ability upgrading at all times possible. It's a "real time" timer, so it'll keep counting down even when you're not playing.
      • Upgrade ALL your abilities, even if you don't use them, for Synergy level bonus (more later...)
      • Open your Hero slots as soon as you can, and get each one to level 9 to unlock Daily Quest for each of them - each Daily Quest gives you some Experience and 20 Gems
      • Save Random Set Item treasure chests until you reach level 70 - because. when open, the item will match the level of the Hero "opening" it.
      • Hold on to ALL Gemstones - you'll use them for Jewelry Crafting

      DO NOT
      • Spend Gems opening the special chests in the map - you'll end up getting better items later anyway...
      • Spend Gems for Abilities Upgrades nor Item Crafting - just wait for the timer
      • Spend Gems to buy things from your Equipment Trader - again, chances are you'll get better items later
      • Sell any Gemstones (just in case the above wasn't enough)

As you can tell from the DO NOT list, you need to be a bit conservative when spending your Gems, especially when you first starting out. You can get more Gems by:
      • Random drops from monsters
      • From watching ads - not available on Windows; these are dropped from monsters in the Mysterious Box, you decide if you want to watch them or not. Ads go for up to 30 seconds, giving 5 Gems each.
      • Completing Story Maps, up to 5 times => total 10 Gems per map
      • Reward Calendar => 320 Gems over 28 days
      • Daily Quests => 20 Gems per completed quest, per day. So with 5 Heroes, that's 100 per day
      • Purchasing them with real money

            Installing, and "completing the download"

Due to the 3 different platforms, the specific steps will be different for each, as well as the language you want to use (Eternium currently have localization for 18 languages, please post and translation corrections/suggestions in the localization sub-forum for the respective language)

            * Screenshots below are from the previous version of the game (v1.2) - I'll update them later...

Before starting, please ensure that your internet connection is stable, network interruptions have been known to cause issues with the game's installation process. If you're on a mobile device, it's best to connect to a wifi network instead of your mobile data - since you'll be downloading about 300 MB of data.

            1. Download the game for your platform, below are the en_us links:2. Install it - specific steps will depends on platform, should be straight forward enough...

            3. Initial game loading and downloading screens, nothing to do, just wait until it's done.
Note that the downloading will not actually reach 100%, the game will only download the initial data before start, see the next post for doing a "full download"

For "returning" players, you can just abandon the map after it finished loading.
For new players, please follow the in-game prompts and have fun!

Also, once the above have completed, you can now play the game offline - although you must be online to start/complete upgrading your skills and craft items, and for your Trial runs to count on the Leaderboard (please see the respective posts below for more details...)

A basic troubleshooting step when you encounter something strange with the game, as noted in the Basic Troubleshooting thread is to:
            1. Save you game, (see next post for details...)
            2. Force close the game
            3. Delete all game data (step differs based on platform)
            4. Uninstall it
            5. Do the "Installing, and completing the download" steps outlined above

              Profile/Account Management

When you first start the game, your game's profile is only saved to the device itself, meaning there's no backup and you cannot use it on another device. You can press the status light in the top right corner of the screen for detail:

Name:	01 - Status - Device Only.png
Views:	1
Size:	269.2 KB
ID:	118774

You'll also be advised of this when you press the [Log In] button

Name:	02 - Log In - Check.png
Views:	1

ID:	118778

You can press the [Save Now] to save your current profile to Eternium's server, which will open up the "Create Account" page:
Enter in a username, the email address you want linked with the account, and the password.
You'll then receive an account verification email from Making Fun, with a code to enter in the game.

The main screen/camp fire screen will change, to include your account's detail on the left panel:

Name:	04 - Saved Profile.png
Views:	1

Notice that the status light also changed color, here are the various possible colors and statuses:

Name:	08 - Status - Could Not Save 2.png
Views:	1

The status above is especially important if you're playing your profile/account on multiple devices. Ensure that the status is saying "Game saved to device and to server" before you close/exit the game - simply seeing a green light is not enough.
If you don't see the message, go back to the main screen and open up the [Heroes] screen and either change to another Hero, or select your existing one again - this is often enough to trigger a "server save", but you may need to do it multiple times, to be safe.

              Managing Saved Profiles/Accounts

If you ever decide to [Log Out], then the email account of your saved profile will be pre-filled in the Log In screen, you simply need to enter your password:

Size:	144.2 KB

You'll also find the history of your saved account(s) in the "History" tab - if you have previously logged in to them on the current device. You can select them to Login, or to Forget the profile on the current device - you can always enter in the email manually and login again.

If you happen to forgot your password for the profile, there's the [Forgot] tab, where you can enter in the email linked to the saved profile to get further instructions on how to reset your password.

              Managing Local Profiles

You can start a fresh profile by pressing the [New Player] button, useful if you want to show new players, or to test things:

Name:	13 - New Player.png

                General Gameplay
                • After you have started a Story map 15 times, for a particular Hero, the game will randomize your starting position.
                  • This is to prevent "auto-play" bots/scripts
                  • This is regardless of whether you actually finished the map or not, it's the number of "starts" that get counted.
                • All loots on the map will "fly to the Hero" when you completed the map/trial, so you don't need to waste time collecting them, unless you want to.

                (more later)

                Leveling:

                (clean up screenshots later)

The highest Hero level at the moment is 70, Heroes below this will be earning "blue" XP (for lack of a better description, this refers to the color of the XP bar) which is specific to only that Hero.

Once the Hero reaches level 70, the XP bar changes to a yellow one, and is now earning Champion Level instead.

Each Champion Level grants the Hero 1 Champion Point, which can be used to improve his/her attributes:

Also note that the Champion Level is common to the whole profile/account - so, all of your Heroes will be at the same Champion Level, each with their own set of points to allocation, even if they're not yet level 70 (lower level Heroes get less per Champion Point though)

From v1.2.88 (February 2018) there will be recurring Events, which you can participate in - for info press the icon on the top right corner, next to the status light. You must be online in order to participate in the event.

I'll only cover the "main" A New Beginning event below, there may be other "smaller" events which you can participate in with your normal account's Heroes - again, you must be online for things to count.

The icon will only be there if there is an Event starting soon, or is currently running.
Please see Limited Time Events for the detail breakdown of the event and "A New Beginning" Event FAQ for more details.

                  Please Note:
                  • The linked topics above, and the screenshots below, are for the FIRST "A New Beginning" Event, things are likely to change overtime - PLEASE read the latest event's description carefully.
                  • As at version 1.3.9: you need to have a Hero at level 30, or higher, in order to access ANB event

                  Starting the Event

Wait for the event to officially start - DO NOT create a new character until it starts.

Once the Event starts, you can create a Hero for it, using the button in the event notification:

Click image for larger version Name:	03 - Heroes - Before.png Views:	2 Size:	264.8 KB ID:	118718Click image for larger version Name:	04 - Create Event Hero.png Views:	1 Size:	144.5 KB ID:	118713Click image for larger version Name:	05 - Heroes - Created Event Hero.png Views:	2 Size:	266.6 KB ID:	118719

If you click on the Event Icon from your normal Hero, after creating the Event Hero, you'll see the option have changed to "Switch Hero":

Click image for larger version Name:	06 - Switch to Event Hero.png Views:	1 Size:	143.9 KB ID:	118712

Play the Event Hero to get the Event Rewards.
You may also purchase Event packs to help you (icon next to the Event icon).

Click image for larger version Name:	07 - Event Hero.png Views:	1 Size:	262.2 KB ID:	118720Click image for larger version Name:	08 - Event Rules and Rewards.png Views:	1 Size:	151.5 KB ID:	118715Click image for larger version Name:	09 - Event Value Packs.png Views:	1 Size:	157.4 KB ID:	118716

Please note that Event Rewards and Packs may change in future events, I'll be leaving the above as is for reference (of the first official event run) - will only update if there are major changes to how the Event is conducted.

Your event Hero will have access to all of Hometown as soon as he/she finished the first map 1. The Shores of Hope - also the unlock Gems cost for things are greatly reduced, when compared to the normal Hero.

Gems cost for Event Hero, total 1,545
                  • Inventory rows: 5, 10, 15, 15, 15
                  • Team: 25, 50
                  • Abilities:
                    • Attack: 5
                    • Utility: 10, 20 (at level 51)
                    • Passive: 25, 50 (at level 55)
                    • Upgrade: 400, 900 (same as normal)
                  • Stash pages: free - 4 pages unlocked
                    • This Stash is only for the Event Hero, you don't get to "keep" it, even if you keep the Hero after the Event.
                    • You get 2 Rows for each page for free, the rest are unlocked with Gold (same price as normal)
Compared to "standard" costs, total 6,025
                  • Inventory rows: 50, 200, 800, 800, 800
                  • Team: 75, 350
                  • Abilities:
                    • Attack: 25
                    • Utility: 75, 450 (at level 51)
                    • Passive: 350, 750 (at level 55)
                    • Upgrade: 400, 900
                  • Stash pages: 100, 400, 900
                    • Rows unlocked with Gold, prices based on the page, you get the first 2 rows of each page for free.
                    • Page 1: 1,000 - 2,000 - 3,000 - 4,000
                    • Page 2: 2,000 - 4,000 - 8,000 - 10,000
                    • Page 3: 5,000 - 10,000 - 15,000 - 20,000
                    • Page 4: 10,000 - 20,000 - 30,000 - 40,000
That's a saving of 4,480 Gems - so even this alone is worth doing the Event, if you don't already have 5 Heroes. If you consider the highest cost of unlocking the 5th Hero slot, 1,000 Gems, you're still saving 3,480 Gems

                  Ending the Event

At the end of the Event, you can press the "[End Event]" button beneath your Event Hero in the Heroes screen.
NOTE: The button is currently there already, shouldn't be - I've checked with Travis, who have contacted the dev team about it, he also tested it and confirmed that pressing it now does nothing. Just in case - DO NOT press "[PROCEED]" until the event is actually over!

Click image for larger version Name:	26 - Event Finished.png Views:	1 Size:	151.5 KB ID:	118733 Click image for larger version Name:	Screenshot_2018-12-01-10-15-54.png Views:	1 Size:	271.1 KB ID:	119718

Pressing to button will open a prompt to confirm ending the Event, which also tell you what will happen with your Event Hero.

If you're planning to keep your Event Hero, make sure you have a Hero slot available (one of the 5 normal slots) - either by deleting an existing Hero that you want to "replace", or use Gems to unlock the additional slot, if available. An available slot is one that have "New Hero" and the blue plus button.

To illustrate, normal account, before starting the event - only 5 slots

Click image for larger version Name:	03 - Heroes - Before.png Views:	2 Size:	264.8 KB ID:	118744

After creating Event Hero, there are now 6 slots - same number of available and locked slots.

Click image for larger version Name:	05 - Heroes - Created Event Hero.png Views:	2 Size:	266.6 KB ID:	118745

Here, the event hero will go into the free slot, the one saying "New Hero", at the end of the event (note that the Event Hero lost access to Jewelry, since I haven't finished mission 10. The Severed Mountain yet)

Click image for larger version Name:	27 - End - Available Hero Slot.png Views:	1 Size:	265.9 KB ID:	118738Click image for larger version Name:	28 - End - Keep Hero.png Views:	1 Size:	259.0 KB ID:	118739Click image for larger version Name:	29 - End - Event Hero as Normal.png Views:	1 Size:	266.2 KB ID:	118740Click image for larger version Name:	30 - End - Event Hero as Normal.png Views:	1 Size:	272.3 KB ID:	118741

But, if I create another char, there's no free slot left:

Click image for larger version Name:	31 - End - No Available Hero Slot.png Views:	1 Size:	265.8 KB ID:	118743Click image for larger version Name:	32 - End - Delete Hero.png Views:	1 Size:	266.1 KB ID:	118742

So if I want to keep the event hero, I need to:
                  - delete one of them, "Test" or "Another" OR
                  - unlock the next slot

So, what really happens to the Event Hero and items?

If you choose to delete the Event Hero:
                  • Crafted Celestial items will revert to the Cube form and sent via in-game mail
                  • Event Hero's XP value will be added to your account's Champion Level XP
                  • All other Event Hero's items will be sent via in-game mail to your main account
                  • Event Hero's Gold is added to your account's Gold
                  • Event Hero will be deleted, and the Event Slot removed
                  • The in-game mails will expire after 4 WEEKS - make sure you get your items before then

If you choose to keep the Event Hero:
                  • Crafted Celestial items will revert to the Cube form and sent via in-game mail (expire after 4 weeks)
                  • Event Hero's Champion Level XP, if any, will be added to your account's Champion Level XP*
                  • All items that were in the Event's Stash will be sent via in-game main to your main account (expire after 4 weeks)
                  • Event Hero's Gold is added to your account's Gold
                  • Event Hero will "move" to the available "normal" Hero slot - the Event Slot is then removed.
                    • All items and unlocked inventory rows, abilities, team slots will stay the same for the Hero - except for crafted Celestial Items, noted above.
                    • Event Hero is now counted as one of your 5 (max) normal Heroes, and have access to all the shared things for your account: Gold, Gems, Stash, Champion Level XP
                    • Anything that you haven't unlocked for the Hero now follows the "standard" costs to unlock - so best to unlock everything you can/want while still "in the Event"

                  Notes on Champion Level XP:
                  • We're talking about the actual XP amount gained, not the Level.
                  • Higher level needs more XP.
                  • So if your normal account have CL 300 and your Event Hero got to CL 300 as well, the combined will give you roughly CL 450 (these numbers are roughly what I remembered for my account in the last Event.

Custom Rare Jewelry gives you the box to craft 1 level 70 Rare (blue) piece of you choice - see: https://forum.makingfun.com/node/85286

Custom Legendary box allow you to craft 1 level 70 set/named item for the Hero "opening" it, also allow you to choose the 4 stats for the it.

(some examples, note icon for item in "crafting menu" is bugged, and the special ability's trigger chance and value are also a range, not the supposedly fixed values shown in the menu)

                      Gemstones

You can attach Gemstones to any of your equipment that have an empty socket, getting a boost to certain attributes, based on the type and level of the gemstones used:

Click image for larger version Name:	Gemstones - All.png Views:	1 Size:	125.7 KB ID:	119231
                      • Diamond (white) => Armor
                      • Amethyst (purple) => Ability Rate
                      • Topaz (yellow) => Critical Rating
                      • Sapphire (blue) => Haste
                      • Ruby (red) => Power
                      • Emerald (green) => Vitality
                      Gemstones level requirement:
                      • Rough - Hero level 1
                      • Common - Hero level 5
                      • Teardrop - Hero level 10
                      • Radiant - Hero level 15
                      • Trillion - Hero level 20
                      • Brilliant - Hero level 25
(will update to the table from the Jewelry spreadsheet...)

Note that the item's required Hero level is the greater of: the item's requirement or the attached gemstone's requirement.
So, if you have a level 1 item with a Brilliant gemstone attached, it can only be used by a level 25 Hero.

                      How to get Gemstones

Rough and Common gemstones are dropped by mobs and bosses in the game.

You can also get the Gemstone Selection bundle from the Reward Calendar or the Consumable Store:
Click image for larger version Name:	Reward Calendar.png Views:	1 Size:	157.0 KB ID:	119241Click image for larger version Name:	Consumable Trader.png Views:	1 Size:	265.6 KB ID:	119242Click image for larger version Name:	Gemstone Selection - Buying.png Views:	1 Size:	273.0 KB ID:	119237Click image for larger version Name:	Gemstone Selection - Item.png Views:	1 Size:	288.6 KB ID:	119239Click image for larger version Name:	Gemstone Selection - Gemstones.png Views:	1 Size:	285.2 KB ID:	119238

Although, it's generally considered more economical to buy the Currency Boosters (which also boosts Gemstones drop rate), and then "farm" for them, see: Gemstone Mining Guide discussions

Click image for larger version Name:	Booster - Lesser.png Views:	1 Size:	270.4 KB ID:	119245Click image for larger version Name:	Booster - Normal.png Views:	1 Size:	271.2 KB ID:	119243Click image for larger version Name:	Booster - Greater.png Views:	1 Size:	271.5 KB ID:	119244

                      Attaching Gemstones

Simply drag-and-drop the desired gemstone into the item you want to attach it to, you'll see the yellow highlight around the item (will add screenshot) - pay attention to the box, as it may go the the item on either side of the one you want, or to the nearest empty inventory slot...

Detaching Gemstones costs gold - based on the level of the Gemstone attached:

Click image for larger version Name:	Detach 1 - Rough.png Views:	1 Size:	258.4 KB ID:	119224Click image for larger version Name:	Detach 2 - Common.png Views:	1 Size:	258.2 KB ID:	119227Click image for larger version Name:	Detach 3 - Teardrop.png Views:	1 Size:	256.9 KB ID:	119229Click image for larger version Name:	Detach 4 - Radiant.png Views:	1 Size:	258.3 KB ID:	119228Click image for larger version Name:	Detach 5 - Trillion.png Views:	1 Size:	256.3 KB ID:	119225Click image for larger version Name:	Detach 6 - Brilliant.png Views:	1 Size:	258.4 KB ID:	119226

                      Upgrading Gemstones

You can fuse 3 lower level gemstones to get 1 of the next level, it costs Gold to do the fusion, amount depends on the level fused. Simply have 3 or more in one stack, and press the [Fuse] button at the bottom of the tooltip popup.
