  • About Celestial Orbs

The current in-game descriptions states that a Celestial Orb may be used to raise "an attribute" by one point. But, one point of 'X' is not equivalent across the stats.

There are 45 point stats, 60s, 72s, 90s, and 180s. One point of one of LoH is not worth as much as one point of XP or CD.

Also, what about weapon or tome damage.
Or base Armor. Or shield 'Block'.
    Are these eligible "attributes"?

The Orb could be made better by granting a small percentage improvement of any value (not to exceed the max).

One point divided by a 45 point stats is about 2%.

One point divided by a 360 stat is much less.

Weapon damage is yet another issue.

This is one area that doesn't seem to be as well thought-through as the rest.

There was some brief discussion from Red in discord about the orbs. He made it sound like it was meant more as a way for a dedicated player to tease out perfect stats if they so desired. As opposed to the more utilitarian purpose you're describing.

I am referring to the former not the latter.

1 is referring to the internal number. So it will raise 89CR to 90CR for example but will raise the base dmg by 1 * weapon’s multiplier. I think sword is 4? Pistol is 5? For example.

              If we're talking about internal values then it should upgrade 89 CR to 89.5 CR => internal of 89 is 178, + 1 => 179 => 89.5

That would scale appropriately for all other attributes as well. But, based on the screen shot I saw, it simply does +1 to all the attributes, including CD.

              Edit:
For reference, here are the multipliers for the various weapons - from the General Newb Guide, I think they're still valid:
              Axes are 3.2x to 5.8x (993 - 1801)
              Staves are 3.6x to 5.4x (1118? - 1676?)
              Swords/Pistols are 4x to 5x (1242 - 1552)
              Maces are 4.3x to 4.7x (1335 - 1459)
              Tomes are 1x to 1.5x (310 - 466)

Adding ss directly, this is probably from 1.3.25 - not sure if things have changed since, no where near enough materials to craft one myself...

Obviously we lack clarity. Would be great if Devs would elaborate.

Red publicly told me on discord that it's +1 internal value for base damage.

Did he specifically comment on stat values, meaning, is it also +1 on the internal stat value ... as speculated above, and clarified as to the effect that would by Nhat

Screenshots of what the C.Orb will and won't do:

...note that CD is "only" 59.9% but it is NOT presented as an option to bump it up to 60.0%
...Vitality is already a perfect 90 and is also not offered
...most damage buff you can get on a DR is 9.0 (not on the one pictured) ; most on a Muk is 9.7

Nice find Coda. I would be interested to hear what the devs say about increasing the procs on these unique items. I for one feel it should be an option for sure if we’re talking about perfectionism and min-maxing.
