    Dual-classing in ANB

    So I did a little dual-classing experiment this ANB Bronze and wanted to share the results.

    In brief, I started with Mage, farmed xp, gold and materials, did a 1 hour push, then farmed some more gold and materials. Then I deleted the character and created a warrior and farmed xp until the end of the event (finishing at CL 2115).

    Why though?
    - The main idea was to end the event with a fully unlocked warrior, as this is way cheaper in ANB;
    - Wanted to craft and CT 1 or 2 xp swords for that warrior;
    - Get some medals and xp for my main toon;
    - Play an ANB without crafting any jewelry;
    - Have some fun in a 12-hour event : )

    How does switching characters work?
    Basically, when you decide to delete the first character, you put all the items you want to move to the next character in the stash. Then delete the toon and create a new event hero.

    Here's what is transferred between the characters (think of it as account-wide stuff on main):
    - Champion levels. Yes, you start with the same CL your first toon had (in my case 1900-ish).
    - Unlocked rows in stash.
    - All items that were in the stash, including all boosters, ephemeral rings and boxes, gemstones, books.
    - All crafting resources.
    - Gold.
    - Event timer continues. Milestone status is also preserved (during the event you can complete each milestone only once and get the reward only once).

    And that's what isn't transferred (think of it as character-specific stuff on main):
    - Character unlocks (ability slots, upgrade slots, companion slots, inventory rows, companions).
    - Trial progress. The new toon starts from TL1 (once you reach hero level 10).

    What about ranking?
    The highest rank of the two (or more) heroes will be used. It is similar to what happens on main if you have multiple heroes.

    The experiment went pretty well and I ticked off all the goals in my list : ) Best part - using a single set of ephemeral jewelry throughout the whole event. Actually I crafted about 20 rings and 10 necklaces in total, which took a few minutes, but nothing like the hundreds I normally craft.

    Mage part was chill. I started playing straight away, not buying legendary crates, gemming abilities or waiting for skills to cook. I bought one 50 gems and one 100 gems crafting crates to have resources for levelling up. Crafted blue jewelry twice - bought several pieces with gold, and if there was none with xp, bought 1 with gems. That's like 30 gems in total. Levelled up in trials to 70 after unlocking Severed mountain. Not having shatter made things a bit slower, but I compensated with crafting blue items with xp and one other stat (mostly haste), and using fireball, blizzard, frost beam and DfA. This took slightly over 17 minutes.

    Then I did around 20 runs in Severed mountain with cheap extra gold gear and crafted very cheap xp gear (not ELR yet). I used all the ephemeral boxes and jewelry and soon had a full ELR set with GMC weapons and the right trinkets and sash. What was left were some frostbeam bracers, which took many tries. I was doing trials 80-90 until I got some purple beam bracers.

    I started replacing my purple gear with legendary, putting both xp and EG (extra gold) on every piece (except for the staff). 65 minutes in, I already had some decent gear, CL 1000 and farming t95. After 2 hours I was at CL1520 and doing t100 in 60-80sec with the combined xp/eg gear.

    After 3 hours I was pretty much done with xp farming and had crafted a cheap push set (1-2 tries for each push item). I then switched to farming t80 with DfA to have some extra materials, books of knowledge and gold for my warrior. I also needed the gold to enchant my push gear, because I was very short on basic resources (ore) and had to buy some basic crates.

    Then it was time for a push, which was going great until t142, but then progress started slowing down rapidly. I got to 148 and tried it a few times, but couldn't get Elban down in time. So some more gold and mats farming, and it was time to go for my mage...

    Warrior part... I basically farmed xp for 5.5 hours : )

    Levelling to 70 was very straightforward, given all the resources and champion levels. I unlocked the second ability upgrade slot and insta-levelled whirlwind to level 10, and the other important abilities and passives to 7-8. At level 70 I crafted a full pure +xp set and started farming.

    I had plenty of essences, but not enough gold and basic materials to craft a 77 staff. I tried to make some decent staffs and put slayer on them, because Kara fights were a struggle. With both slayers and ToS and some practice I started getting better clear times @t100 and moved to t105. Meanwhile I had to do 100 runs of SM in between boosters to get the gold for that 77 staff. Even crafted cheap eg gear and green eg jewelry to speed things up : )

    Bottom line: dual-classing is a fun experiment!

    There's plenty of time in ANB Bronze or Silver for that (maybe even in Gold). You can make use of warriors' faster xp clear times and then switch to mage/bh, which is what I'll try next. Make sure to transfer enough resources, gold and books to jump-start the second character. Beware that you might be short on basic resources when switching classes, which can be compensated with basic crates or more farming with the second toon.

    I'm still not sure if ranking works as I expect it to... I'll update this when it's published and the medals are awarded.

    Many thanks for sharing the experience! I was quite curious about this method, and in my view, it can thoroughly enhance the ANB fun options.

    However - I am always afraid, with every update, that this will be regarded as a bug and get "shadow-fixed", leaving the unhappy dual classer with an empty stash and experience reset to 0 when creating his second toon.

    Thus I would be particularly grateful if Adrian (Developer) or Liana-Daniela (QA Specialist) could weigh in and "bless this" as being OK to do - I frankly don't see much of an abuse, *provided one does as the OP did and push ONLY on his first, or let's say principal, toon*.

    The idea to leverage e.g. Warrior for XP/mats and then switch to a BH for example and push for rank would seem unfair to other BH players doing single-class.

      Welcome Tbh I don't find anything wrong with playing (and pushing) with as many characters as you want during a single event. There may or may not be an advantage, depending on how well you can pull it off. After all there are some costs for switching - time, recrafting gear, resources, ability upgrades, gems... And anyone can try it, which is why I don't see it as being unfair : ) I don't know about BH, but farming with mage is quite fast anyway, so it's more of a fun experiment rather than a way to gain an edge

        bojck What happens to the event clock for the hero, does it continue to run from where the first hero left off or does it reset?

          Ah yes, I'll add them to the list. Nhat, can you confirm if ranking works like on main? I.e. highest ranked anb char counts

          Only the highest ranked toon counts.

        I read an old thread about this, and they discussed about the ranking of the deleted and second hero created, but I did not remember the details if the ranking of the deleted hero preserves its LB ranking, I can't find the post now.

          Am I right for what will I do this ANB? I had a BH, and then make another mage. I will finish the event first with my BH, get him to the last trial that I can, and then delete him to make a fully unlocked mage. Will I spare some event timer to my BH before deleting him or is it safe if I spend all the event timer (use the remaining timer to the last trial because it will still be saved to the LB if I finish the trial)?

            For full unlock, you'll need to get to level 55 - 3rd utility at 51, 3rd passive at 55. If you don't care about those, you'll still need some time to actually start the 1st map, and finish it to get to hometown. And make sure you do it before the official end of the event...

            I totally forgot about that, thanks for the reminder Nhat , maybe 10 minutes is enough to clear level 70 since CL points are available to the one I'll create.

          Good idea. I want to try dual classing in the next silver.

          But I will start with Warrior and farm exp as much as I can and get to TL 100. Then switch to BH for final pushing in the last 3 hour.

            I think the BHs on the LB with 2000+ CL do dual classing, because IMO BH is the slowest among the three classes to farm exp. Or I just suck at exp farming with BH.

              At first, I thought BH is the fastest to farm exp and gold. But, after I tried Warrior, everything changed. I haven't tried Mage.

              Some good players now figured out how and they shared to farm exp efficiently and very fast with the new 4fury+2WL in warriors and fire lily with FB or DFA with ELR mage. But BHs still no have a good AoE skill to kill mobs that fast compared to the two. Others actually do exp + EG in their gear but BH also has that disadvantage that can't be done.

            What if you crafted a level 77 legendary on the first toon you created to farm exp? It is better to have that in your push hero to fully utilize and CT it, rather than just use it for exp farming, especially you'll be creating two different classes. Only trinkets can be used in all classes...

              If it's the weapon, might stick with the hero. But if its another gear, will go for dual classing. Hopefully its the trinket.

            bojck Thanks for sharing! I might try this in Silver since I like playing the 4 Fury:2 Warlord Fire Lily XP farmer build, but you can't push that far enough to be competitive. Two questions:

            Is gold transferred to the second event hero or is it lost in the transfer?
            Are the unlocked trials still open or does the new hero start at TL1?

            Just to be clear, when you say "delete the hero" you are deleting from the Heroes screen using the blue delete button and not the green End Event button.

              Yep, gold is transferred, and you start from TL1 (once you reach hero level 10). I added this to the original post now!

              Delete through the heroes screen. The 'end event' button isn't there during the event, right? Then use the 'Create event hero' option.

              lol we'll see, it can certainly spice-up the long silver and bronze events, but I'm sure that not everyone will like it

            I like this dual class thing. If all the skilled players dual class, that means they'll reach higher TL in a non-Warrior class. That means they won't be included on the Warrior LB, thus my chances of ranking on the Warrior LB improves. I might breach the top 500.
