  • Reasons why this game may struggle...

    I've now forfeited 2 of the last 3 after being GREATLY outmatched. I really don't understand why I would be matched against players over 500 points more than i....and also players whose equipment values 58k to my 30k.

    now, I get there are some combinations that compete with higher value equipment, but when other variables play in such as crit, drawing cards, delivering damage after drawing cards, and then having higher weapon damage, I really don't enjoy getting my ass handed to me when these 30% values are finding success near 80%.

    in addition to that, I equipped the poniard and was able to support it with a 60% chance of crit....of which it returned two games of 20% success. Hell, the sample is only two games, but give it a rest when something is 30 against me and hits near 100% of the time.

    there are some serious flaws in multiple atmospheres. One has to wonder why players are leaving...and I hope this post supports some of it.

    So I feel the opposite way to you, I wish it would match me with anyone regardless of ranking. If I play for 3 hours I may get 10 matches against human players at best. Fed up of playing boring bots. Just to make them more interesting, I play with a weak setup for the challenge. Then out of the blue I come across a human player with my poor set up. What I think the developers should do is add a 'no bot match' button. The game has become very stagnant. Maybe it has reached its limits, luck based games do tend to do that after time.

      Case and point of frustration...this mostly cripples me when playing an Eye of the Storm. 50% chance to heal and a 8/9 success rate. Garbage.

        Not only that, but I unequalled the malevolent shard and reequipped a different trinket lowering my crit % chance by 5....I went from 25-30% success to 35-40 over my last few games which matches my suggested rates.

        I really believe the items are not giving the proper chance as described. I don't know if it is a programming bug or what, but after seeing the Eyes success against me, the Relics success, then the lack of success by the shard, there has to be some sort of explanation.

          Strings of random numbers or probabilities aren't always evenly distributed. For example, if you flip a coin an infinite number of times you will eventually get tails a trillion times in a row. Now the odds of that happening are infinitesimally low and would probably take longer than the age of the universe to see, but it demonstrates the point.

          Also worth noting, and equally counter intuitive, the probability of one outcome is not affected by previous outcomes. I.e. when flipping a coin, you're just as likely to get heads or tails whether it landed on heads 10 times in a row previously, or one time, or a million. So if you're attacking a stealthed assassin with 20% evade, it's entirely possible you could miss every single time. Forever. And that is a sign of true randomness.

            I am a math guy...and it is about laws of averages...which is what creates statistics. However, if my chances are 50%, then I expect over time to see 50%. That means, 8 games of 25% should eventually yield higher marks (and more likely clustered). That said, when I face a witch with an Eye, and he hits the 30% gain a freeze 4 of 6 attacks, that brings into question two things...the accuracy and the reliability of numbers on paper.

            btw, the witch thing happened two games in a row. When you get pounded each turn with ap reduction, absorbsion, and limitations, the game ends quickly. I barely flicked my opponent as a result.

              On another note, I'm a sportsmanship kinda guy too (even if this post sounds like whining). But can I have just a generic "good game" option in the remarks. So many good ones, but when you say "bless you", I feel like I'm responding to a sneeze.

                The engine uses true RNG and not pseudo. It was tested extensively, so we're confident that the RNG does what it says on the tin. A pseudo RNG is what would give you the experience of results consistently close to the build. But that predictability would lead to a monoculture of builds. Just calculate what performs best over 9-11 rounds, and why take anything else? I've played so many hundreds of games that I've seen results all over the place. I've been wildly disappointed, gotten the "normal" results, and overperformed dramatically. That's the way the dice rolls.

                The devs have considered some sort of compromise solution to percentages, but I don't know how far they've gone with that idea or if we'll ever see it. True pseudo, as already stated, would just make a huge wreck of things.
