Maybe some of you folks out there know my old favorite MMORPG called Dark age of camelot or DAoC. And that is where the base for my suggestion comes from, respectively it's crafting system.
In DAoC, players craft items much like we do in Eternium, but the process of creating items is split into several steps:
First, the item itself is crafted, without any stats other than armor. The quality of the item created varies, with a higher chance to get a better quality item with a higher crafting skill (quality would compare to our item levels in Eternium). Next, the item is spellcrafted, so remaining stats other than armor is spelled upon the item. Again, the higher the crafter's skill, the better the stats on the item can be (in DAoC, a spell crafter trying to spell stats too high for his crafting skill will lead to the item explode, destroying the item and killing the crafter (which sure can resurrect after)). And finally, enchantments can be applied to the crafted items.
It would be great if E would also split crafting into several, independant steps. Trying to craft that 74/75 item is using way to much essences....
