Minions during limited duration events

Just a thought. It would be nice if the price for purchased minions was like 50g instead of the normal price.

So what will I spend my gems on instead? That would trivialize the minions too much.

I could see a reduced fee for Minions but they don't carry forward after the event ends. So you spend less to have them during the event, but if you want to keep the event hero then you need to buy them at full price.
