But it also keeps you from getting too out of hand....

Guess it would really be more of a feed into each other thing. HOW much is the perk WORTH is it worth 1000CL?
Or the xp value of 30 cl? Etc....
That would proabably be the determining factor

Probably rather than spending the xp though appropriate way would be to reduce CL. And xp would stay same as requirement to move to next CL.

So at CL 1000 with 500 needed to go to 1001
You buy a skill that needs 30 cl

You would now be at 970cl with 500 needed go to 971.

Otherwise the system gets bit unrulely and out of balance.

Make XP a currency that players can spend to further specialize and thus customize their characters.

First categorize the skills into upgradable and not. Perhaps over time some skills can be added to the upgradeable list. I will use an often overlooked warrior skill to illustrate the setup.

    Skill: Charge
Lvl10: Deals 200% weapon damage and increase CR by 300 for 4secs.
Mechanics: warrior rushes forward doing some kind of AoE at the end and stun.

After reaching CL 1k+, player can spend XP that is equivalent to 1K CL to enhance a selected skill. The first time cost is 1K CL exp, 2nd time is 1.5K CL exp, 3rd time is 2K CL exp, 4th time is currently impossible.

Charge Skill xp enhanced Lv 1:
Similar to that One with the sword Ultimate skill from my whole new class thread.
Player transforms into a big black blade and rushes forward. It damages everything along its path (narrow line, like snipe). 1000% damage, no stun, 90% damage reduction during the animation and immune to control.

Charge Skill xp enhanced Lv 2:
The transformed sword doubles back and damages everything in the path again (50% faster animation), 750% damage, for 1500% total, other attributes stay the same.

Charge Skill xp enhanced Lv 3:
It triples back so damages everything 3x, (100% faster animation), 800% damage, for 2400% total and always Crit, other attributes stay the same.

This becomes the warrior's snipe, boss killing skill of choice.

For the not upgradable skills, there should be a sub selection of skills that other classes can purchase with XP. This adds to the max synergy level.

For these cross class skills, first purchase is set at 500 CL xp, 2nd at 1k CL, 3rd at 1.5k CL, 4th at 2k CL.
Working...
