At the end of a season, such as the one that is about ready to conclude:

You keep everything but Spiristones, which are automatically converted to essences (lesser, normal or greater depending on the Spiristone tier).I would recommend to gather all that's socketed or in hero's inventory, and stash them with the rest just before the Season ends.This way you can figure how many essences you can expect, because once it's stacked with the rest of them, it's hard to check whether all were accounted for. (They should, but I check nonetheless because weird behavior with this feature in the past)

Precisely. An old good habit developed with user inputs: Never trust anyone, including ourselves.

It's not that much for the essences, though. It's more to be aware of any bug in the process, and be able to report it accurately.

At the end you also receive the season bank gems/gold and any reward you did not click on to collect will be in your mail .
