    Another Anniversary

Well it's that time of year again. I started playing this game around eight years ago. I think it was still called Mage and Minions back then, I can't remember. The Adventurer set was only epic, not legendary. Trials didn't provide XP...you ran the beginning of Canyon of Whispers thousands of times to slowly accumulate XP (the original CoW, not the new map). You regularly farmed trial 205 with hopes to get a legendary item with at least three usable stats as crafting then was useless. You ran The Broken Dragon thousands of times to get more gemstones for jewelry crafting as there was no such thing as jewelry boxes. Crafting jewelry was so complex to anyone unfamiliar with the game that Nhat made a spreadsheet to guide players through the process, except I'm so thick that I think Coda made a video explaining how to use the spreadsheet lol. There were no XP or currency boosters. Once Champion points were introduced I don't think there was a cap on any of the damage stats; someone may have to correct my memory. There was no Hometown, no trinkets, no stash space, no events (but there was the Dyoma score). I wonder if any of the original players ever peek in from time to time or if they've moved on entirely?

I think what makes this game so continually playable is that it is an almost perfect balance of complexity and speed. It is complex enough to remain stimulating but gameplay is fast and fluid enough to avoid boredom. It's also completely playable for free (just takes longer) but the daily gems and seasonal reward gems are deals that can't be beat. I'm maybe not as consumed by this game as I was eight years ago but it still has me playing almost daily even if only casually for a few minutes. Glad it's still around

My welcome email says 9 years ago right now. I think my 10th anniversary will be in fall. I know I've missed a few days through the years but none of my own choosing. These days I start every morning with a nice dark roast black coffee and some time with Eternium before eating breakfast.

I was looking for a D2-like game to play on my Android tablet. Apparently the store showed Mage And Minions, and it was right!!

It's such a different game from the M&M we started on. There was no bounty hunter then, so I settled for a warrior that I still have for gold runs (I don't think I'd still be playing if the bounty hunter hadn't been added). No champion levels so Level 70 was the player maximum. However since armour, weapons, etc only came from monster drops lots of playing was still needed to get decent set pieces with desirable attributes. No Demeter. No blacksmith. Etc.

To this day I still prefer the original Levania and wonder why it was changed. I would also prefer to get rid of Ingrid and go back to monster drops. However apparently neither is enough to make me quit. ;-)

I'm a casual player with no desire to climb the rankings. I got lucky that when the ANB events split into 3 divisions I hadn't managed to beat 118, so I ended up a veteran and now stop myself at 119. I'd rather be happy than high ranking.

    Have fun everyone
