Winning metals across multiple characters

I was just wondering whether or not we can win multiple seasonal metals across different characters, or is it better just to focus on one and get as high as you can? Thanks for your valuable insight!

Season medals are awarded to your highest ranked character on your account. All other lower ranked characters (irrespective of class) are then removed from the leaderboards. Therefore you can only win Season medals on one character.
