I earned a starforged hammer last season and stuck it in my stash. Now it is missing from stash and isn't in the inventory of any of my heroes. Does the hammer disappear at the end of the season it was earned? 99% sure I didn't use it (since I don't have the piece I want to save it for), but open to the possibility I'm smoking crack and did use it without thinking.

No, they don't disappear when the Season ends. I checked a backup of your game data from the day before the Season ended and I don't see any hammers in your inventory or stash, so you must have used it at some point after receiving it.
