    Iphone8 Mage Gameplay

This isn't the best video to demonstrate iphone8 gameplay, but I think it's enough that any veteran of high-trial level mobile play will immediately see the difference. Also, I guess it's some form of proof that I actually am playing on mobile. Since I don't clear the trial (115 in the video) it doesn't serve as definitive proof that I cleared 113 and 114 on mobile. But this is the most I'll do to prove that fact. As I say in the video, it's more to showcase iphone8 game play.

The audio portion ends rather abruptly. The perils of recording with mobile devices I guess. I was running out of scintillating commentary anyway...

Good video! I'll still learn to join mobs like this with my mage. I also play on the mobile.

One minute into your video and it absolutely convinces me that something is broken with singularity and its recovery benefit.

That iphone8 is lit! I still can't buy it tho.. it would be too dangerous to get something like that out when I'm commuting (travelling through buses and vans) since in our country, it's fatal to show something like that outside.

Nonetheless, really great device and app compatibility.

I won't wonder if you guys beat up to 120 with that device.

For good or bad here? Based on that video, you could go either way as a mage is all but invincible when sending a singularity through a mob. Little wonder PC players need so little vitality. Obviously, the other way it could be broken is that Android hardware can't keep up with the processing needed, which certainly fits the definition of broken.

If this is indeed an Android problem, I'd be much more inclined to believe it's some SW problem (limitations in dynamic memory allocation or whatever), rather than a HW one. It's not like iPhone HW is "Celestial" and high-end Androids merely "Legendary".

Tagging Liana-Daniela (QA Specialist) and Adrian (Developer) for a heads-up.

+1. You do have 6.5 AS, but it just feels otherworldly compared to my own experience (I have 6.24 I think). I can *NOT* withstand multiple Ghosts draining from an Empowering aura like that.

Travis, consider moving this one to Bug Reports, please.

Purple Potato , RiseOfAbyss , would either of you be able to have temporary access to a high-end iPhone *and* a high-end Android and relate your experiences at T115-ish to what you experience on the PC?

The iphone8 was the first iphone using its latest processor technology. I recall reviews of it when it came out that it was CLEARLY more powerful than any other mobile processor. (This recollection was what led me to try it on this iPhone in the first place. ) I poo-pooed that in my own mind at the time figuring it was probably true to some degree but not like the reviewers were claiming. I think this clearly demonstrates i was incorrect there.

The short version of all this is I believe what we're seeing is a combination of superior hardware and software performance. I'm certain that some level of optimization is possible on Android that would significantly improve game play. Whether it's possible to achieve this same result is another matter. I tend to doubt it, but who knows.

Last thing - a constant topic amongst players is how to improve the mobile experience to bring it more in line with PC play to give mobile players a chance to "compete". I think this video shows time spent optimizing would be time well spent towards that end. Rather than adding features specific to the mobile experience, or macro-features for skill casting and whatnot.

I can assure, I even stated it in the video at one point, that singularity doesn't do that for me on the s8- point being same hero, same AS, different result across the 2 different devices.

This comment gives me some more motivation to come up with some kind of side-by-side comparison to showcase the differences in game play more starkly.

I agree with the problem being SW. I already played in Android emulator installed in "PC gamer" in its maximum configurations and I did not have such performance.

CPU is the tip of the iceberg. iPhone8 has (as best I could trace) "only" 2GB of RAM, whilst even the S8 has 4GB. Remember back in pre-console days how the cheapest & easiest boost to a PC's performance was to buy more memory for it?

                          I do indeed. Good times.

That said, I'm curious to know about performance on an iPhone 6 or 7 at this point. This might give a better pointer in terms of where the bottleneck is- OS efficiency and software or just raw CPU power?

We can't rule out the possibility that the bug (as this appears to be) might rest on the *iPhone and PC* builds, which would thus be proc'ing Singularity much more than intended.

My thoughts on this are- what you're seeing in the video is the way it's intended to be. I think it's basically PC level performance that you're seeing. I expect they'd have nerfed singularity long before now otherwise. If they didn't intend for it to heal so much even on a PC.

I think it's clear that processing on Android is getting dropped in favor of trying to keep up with the display, but even there, the processor can't keep up and we see lag. I suspect things like LoH, immolate procs, even touch commands are all being missed/ dropped in typical Android game play. Not to mention, I didn't have a single mob-death-dive. That happens multiple times on my S8.
