So after each event spirit stones are converted to essence? What is essence and what will we be able to do with them?

Essences are crafting components, used to set up specific attributes on a crafted item. Since the current stones provide haste/movement speed and dodge bonuses, they would probably convert to air and water essences, either lesser, normal or greater essences. At least, that would be my guess.
