Drops has already not been ephemeral before and in my whole gear there is no drop for a good reason. I've saw 77 drops really rare and having them with somehow useful stats at the same time is close to impossible. So I might enjoy the ride, but to optimize my gear this event is useless.

I'll be honest, it's possible to hit 100 easy with that epic armor. From there it's just farming for good Stat set items. The other items have always dropped fairly easily so I could have my bracers, belt, sheild, and cape.

I think that the limition was in how many coding changes you can make and still run an event. Just getting rid of crafting is enough to make a different type of experience. Should at least be interesting so see how things go.

The advantage to collecting drops instead of ephemeral crafting is that everything you collect will transfer back to your main account. I suggest picking a hero class where you want to build a new armor set and enjoy the ride!

Just wanted to clarify that this is a very different type of event than the original LOTL challenge. I think that the word is out now on the differences. Interested to see how the drop rates are changed for this event.

Perhaps set in-game item availability to match the division level. The Master Division could be much more restrictive/difficult instead of the lower division levels just being reward system for new players.

Main reason for me to play events was to get a chance to craft level 77 items with reasonable effort. So that event feels somehow like wasted time for all the people that already have a high item level. Please at least increase the chance to get higher level items during that event, to not have it useless.

Most players have no idea what LotL is. This type of event will be a completely new experience for them - they won't have anything to base any comparisons on.

Allowing players to purchase gear from Gornathan is a major change from the original Live off the Land rules, which did not allow those purchases. If players have access to the shared gem bank from the account, some players will equip gear using gems not earned by the LOTL hero to make purchases. I have been playing around with the mechanics of using only dropped gear, and Gornathan offers much better options than most drops in the early part of the game. If you are not getting certain pieces to drop or if a gear is a much lower level, you can usually buy what is missing from Gornathan. Granted, he does not sell any set pieces, which are important for later game progress, but purchases of gear from Gornathan would make a big difference in early leveling up times.

Gold is also a limiting factor during the original LOTL, which made converting gems not earned by the LOTL hero into gold off limits. I am guessing that this will be allowed under the revised STL since those elements of the game are baked into the code.

It would be nice to clarify these things in the announcement, so players can understand that they are not being held to the original LOTL rules for this event.

This probably needs some clarification. I was assuming that Travis was talking about the three green boxes for making Rare jewelry that are part of the in game rewards for trial completion. It sounds like you are referring to the Epic gear boxes. If those are still part of the game, it does change the game significantly from the original Live off the Land, which did not allow players to use the Epic gear boxes.
